Romans 9:19-26
Psalm 1
O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done?declares the LORD. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel. Jeremiah 18:6 A well-known insurance company boasts if we do business withthem, we will be “in good hands.” It is easy to see how that sloganwould appeal to a person going through a time of trial and trouble. When a crisis strikes, we want to where to turn for help. We want to know where we can put our trust and who will not let us down.Unfortunately, when we rely on people and human institutions, there is no guarantee that our problems will go away. In the mostdifficult times, it may seem that even God has failed us, leaving us to face life’s troubles alone. The people of God, like us, often found themselves stumbling in thedarkness, crying out for God to be there. And He always was, in His own way. The prophet Jeremiah delivers this message from
God: Trust Me, I’m not finished shaping you yet. Like a potter lovingly shaping the clay, our God is at work in our brokenplaces, drawing us ever closer to Him. Whatever we face in life, His loving hands are there to create something beautiful out of it.
Lord, I believe. Continue to shape me in Your image. Amen.
